A Texan by birth, and civil engineer by trade, Ed Bolden and his family arrived in the Santa Clarita Valley in the 1960s. Owning a successful civil engineering business, securing membership in the Newhall-Saugus Chamber of Commerce, and becoming an elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall seems like more than enough to keep a new Valencia resident busy, but with Ed, one service-based organization always seemed to lead to another. Like many of his chamber friends, Ed found a philanthropic connection with the Newhall Rotary Club. Taking the club’s motto of “Service Above Self” to heart, Ed became a driving force in Rotary’s community projects while also participating in its state, national, and international programs. He not only served as club president, but Rotary District 5260 governor as well. Through the years, he continued to participate in Rotary’s projects and has earned numerous “Rotarian of the Year” awards. His participation in many different Santa Clarita Valley charities earned him the 1971 SCV Man of the Year award.

 

With his passing in 2023, the Rotary Club of SCV determined to honor his memory with an endowment scholarship for engineering at College of the Canyons. Donations to honor his many contributions to our growing community can be made through the attached QR Code.
